Duke Steals One at Home from Syracuse

Duke and Syracuse played another classic game Saturday night, and the Blue Devils evened the season series with a close victory at home. The game came to a de facto ending when Rodney Hood drew an offensive foul from CJ Fair with just over 10 seconds remaining and Duke up two. Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim was enraged with the call and stormed the court, ripping off his jacket and screaming in the direction of the officials.

Boeheim was given two technical fouls and ejected from the game for the outburst, and police officers escorted him off the court. Duke guard Quinn Cook hit three of the four ensuing free throws, and Duke went on to win 66-60.

After the game, Boeheim sincerely praised the officials overall, but said the late charge was “the worst call of the year.”
