Jabari Parker No. 1 in Freshman Tracker

It’s still early in the season, but the elite freshmen have already begun to separate themselves. Jabari Parker, Julius Randle and Andrew Wiggins hold down the top three spots in our rankings again this week, but there are three newcomers to the Freshman Tracker — another Kansas Jayhawk, an SEC big man and a talented Memphis Tiger.

Check back each week for the Freshman Tracker. We’ll have updates on how the nation’s top first-year players did on the floor, with input from those (i.e., NBA executives, college coaches, media types) who saw them over the week.

A pair of 21-point games this past week against UNC Asheville and East Carolina keep the skilled and versatile Blue Devils forward atop the list. Oh yeah, he also averaged 9.5 boards in the two victories and is shooting 56 percent from the field and 65 percent from 3.

“He is a smooth blend of Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony,” said East Carolina coach Jeff Lebo.
