Jamel McLean lifts Alba Berlin past Spurs, 94-93

Former Xavier forward Jamel McLean banked in a running floater from the free throw line as time expired to give Alba Berlin a 94-93 victory over NBA champion San Antonio on Wednesday night in the Spurs’ exhibition opener.

Former Villanova guard Reggie Redding made a 3-pointer for Alba with 5.1 seconds left to make it 93-92, then stole Tim Duncan’s inbounds pass to set up McLean’s winner.

McLean had 18 points and 10 rebounds for eight-time German champion Alba. Former Belmont guard Alex Renfroe and former the Clemson guard Clifford Hammonds each had 15 points, and Redding added 12 points, five assists and four steals.

Tony Parker scored 28 points for the Spurs in NBA Global Games tour contest. Duncan had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Kawhi Leonard also had 14 points.

The Spurs will face six-time Turkish champion Fenerbahce on Saturday in Istanbul.
