Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook gave an in-person recruiting pitch to Pau Gasol

No wonder the Oklahoma City Thunder are the favorites to land free-agent center Pau Gasol.

When two of the best players in the world take the time to make an in-person pitch for you to join their near-championship caliber team, it would be hard to say no.

The issue is money. Gasol is reportedly looking for a deal in excess of $10 million per year, but the Thunder can only offer the mid-level exception in a straight-up signing, which is only worth $5 million. If they get creative, it’s conceivable that the Thunder could sign-and-trade for Gasol with the Los Angeles Lakers, but that is contingent on their co-operation.
