Tom Crean Beats Bo Ryan for First Time; Thanks to Yogi

It was  a long 12 games and losses for Tom Crean and his Hoosiers until Tuesday night. Crean and his Hoosiers got a giant effort from soph. point Yogi Ferrell, who added 19 in the second half to finally lift Indiana over Wisconsin.

The Badgers came into Assembly Hall undefeated and ranked #3 in the country before falling 75-72. It was more of a great effort by IU than a bad one by Wisconsin.  IU is fighting for tournament survival at this point while Wisconsin is looking for a Big Ten Title.

After being benched for dribbling around like a 5th grader, Yogi re-entered the game and took over. The highly touted high school recruit hasn’t lived up to the hype in just two seasons with IU. Last year, Yogi was a 2nd option point guard among a great team featuring two NBA top 5 picks, and this year Yogi has been more Iverson than Isaiah. The 5’10 guard has the speed of both NBA all star guards, but when he only looks for his shot the team gets lost(and beaten).  Yogi was great in the 2nd half on Tuesday, and he finally lived up his to high school hype. But it was one game and at home.

IU fans are just hoping Yogi can both carry the scoring at times, but also get the team involved.

IU jumps to 2-2 in the Big 10 and 12-5 overall with Northwestern up next.
